i made this vase thinking it would be my tall vase but i just made a bigger one for my mom to give her on mothers day. but its still really beautiful. it reminds me of mountains because of the multicolored triangles jutting up from the bottom. its five inches tall and makes me think of night.
here is my cup with handle. when i glazed it i was expecting the color to come out more orange and blue than pink and purple but i like how it came out anyways. the handle has a spiral even though it's hard to see in this photo. to make the swirls and lines i carved out clay to make indents. this gives it movement almost like an ocean. the two colors give the piece contrast that makes it more fun to look at. when i gave it to a good friend pot mine, they were overjoyed to have it and repeatedly thanked me. that made me feel better about my skills in ceramics. this project helped boost my skills because i learned how to make a handle. all in all, this creation gives the viewer a feeling of goofiness or happiness.
this is my final tall vase. it's extremely thick but over all nice looking. i used lines to create a rough texture and make the piece look and feel busy. the inside of the vase is dark blue/green and there foot is thick. it's maybe six inches tall and three inches wide at its widest point. its not as big as i should have made it but i still like it. the values between white and green creates a nice contrast of colors, exaggerating the lines within the piece.
